Christmas Foretold (5)–Fulfilled

When Micah shared this prophecy with the people of Judah, they were on the cusp of a series of changes. These changes were not going to be pleasant as the nation was going to be taken into captivity. Their unfaithfulness to the true God had brought them to a place where their unbelief was no longer tolerable. First God sent the Babylonians, then the Greeks and finally the Romans to separate them from their home and resettle them in foreign nations.

God cannot break his promises. The Messiah was still to come from the nation of Israel to save the world. So  Micah prophesied that from the supposedly insignificant town of Bethlehem would come a ruler.

And about 700 years later this is what we read:

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.  Luke 2:4-7.

The prophecy of the Christmas foretold Garden of Eden and throughout Old Testament times was fulfilled. God became human flesh. The human race, separated from God because of their sin, now was gifted a path straight back to his love and forgiveness.

Jesus is the most important gift anyone can receive, at Christmas or anytime in their life. That is a gift to celebrate not only tonight and tomorrow, but forever.

Have a blessed Christmas.

Come on back sometime to continue celebrating the Christmas gift that is for everyone.   I will wait you.
